Rescue Social Change Group (Rescue SCG) is searching for a professional and experienced Social Media Manager, LGBT Campaign to implement effective and cutting-edge strategies to build the audience and increase sustained engagement for Rescue SCG’s national social brands. The Social Media Manager, LGBT Campaign leads a Community Management team, who is responsible for developing content on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and effectively managing conversations online. This position is part of a long-term, nationwide social marketing program to prevent tobacco use amongst various sub-cultures including LGBT young adults, Alternative teens, etc. This role is crucial to the development of the brand’s editorial calendar and is hyper-focused on generating conversation about the campaign messages on social media channels. Since the brand is new, this position presents a unique opportunity to shape a brand from launch in a pilot market through to national exposure.

Social Media Manager LGBT Campaign

The Social Media Manager, LGBT Campaign reports to the Director of Digital & Social Media, is responsible for establishing, maintaining and expanding the social media presence of Rescue SCG’s campaign efforts for national brands. The job of the Social Media Manager, LGBT Campaign entails activities pertaining to, but not limited to:

Social Media Content Development:

  • Lead and champion the editorial calendar development process for all social media channels including (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc.);
  • Work across in-house teams to generate ideas, ensure alignment with social media strategies and best practices, and oversee the approval process for all social media content;
  • Generate owned and earned media for campaigns; and
  • Contribute creative concept ideas for highly engaging digital experiences.

Social Media Community Management:

  • Extensive use of social media technology is required on both the native platforms themselves and with enterprise-level social media management tools;
  • Develop social media policies and guidelines to create efficiency across community management team;
  • Develop and maintain social media Standard Operating Procedures and community management guidelines;
  • Develop innovative strategies to drive traffic to social media pages and engage teens and young adults in conversation;
  • Draft appropriate responses to public commentary in a timely manner, especially in cases of negative sentiment and/or social media communication crises; and
  • Promote best practices and stay up to date on changes in the social media space.

Social Media Reporting:

  • Compile comprehensive reports on social media performance using internal templates and professional social media reporting tools;
  • Compile weekly community management reports that captures moderation activity; and
  • Analyze social media page performance and make appropriate adjustments to reach social media performance goals.

Client Relations:

  • Communicate directly with clients to explain social media plans, strategies and reports; and
  • Manage client accounts that exclusively focus on digital and social media.

Employee Supervision:

  • Hire, train, manage and evaluate performance of the campaign social media team, such as community managers;
  • Review the work of the campaign social media team regularly; and
  • Develop and promote best practices for campaign development, implementation and reporting.

Other:

  • Manage social media-related vendors and technology partnerships;
  • Represent Rescue SCG at conferences; and
  • Other duties as required.

Candidate Requirements

Environment:
Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and computer and Internet access. Must be available to work non-traditional hours such as late nights and weekends. All business-related environments are tobacco-free.

Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time and stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours at a time including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars.

Travel:
Estimated once per month.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree +4 years relevant experience OR 9 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree +2 years relevant experience
  • Experience and success with social media for business purposes (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.);
  • Experience using an enterprise-level Social Media Management System (Sprinklr, BuddyMedia, Shoutlet, etc.);
  • Experience and success with driving follower growth and engagement;
  • Experience writing, building and optimizing social media content;
  • Experience analyzing social media metrics;
  • Experience managing an Editorial Calendar for a brand or business;
  • Experience evaluating new tools for potential adoption in the company;
  • Proven ability to train, mentor and manage others;
  • Proven ability to excel in high-stress, fast-paced environments;
  • Proven ability to quickly identify problems and solve them;
  • Proven ability to work with multiple teams (creative, web, client services, research) in the production of a final work product;
  • Proven ability to communicate with clients on delicate matters;
  • Highly attentive to detail / perfectionist;
  • Strong organizational skills to oversee numerous projects at once;
  • Strong verbal communication skills; and
  • Strong editing and writing skills for client reports, marketing materials, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with brands that target LGBT young adults, Alternative teens, or other teen cultures;
  • Experience with public health efforts;
  • Experience using social listening tools;
  • Experience with paid social media strategies;
  • Creative experience to support creative team members and develop new media; and
  • Non-tobacco-use is highly preferred because we only have tobacco-free environments and also to be consistent with our tobacco prevention campaign goals.

Training:
A comprehensive training would be provided to the selected candidate. The training will be conducted at a Rescue SCG office and paid for by RSCG.

Salary/Status:
FT Exempt Position. Salary Based on Salary History, Experience and Education Level.
