Geeks juggling a teabag, a hat and chairs might not be everyone’s idea of entertainment while sitting in an upside-down purple cow. But these nerds are on to something. Arron Sparks, Jon Udry, and their court jester Matt Pang take you on a juggling journey with some slightly awkward humour: Beta Testing.

★★★

The preppy trio have mastered the finesse of catching and throwing rings, batons and balls with buffoonery. They commentate about the ancient art while meticulously flinging numerous objects through the air.

The start of the show is like being back at school. The quick-handed Musketeers demonstrate how other countries juggle. Mexicans fiercely toss clubs vertically until red-faced and knee-bound, while the French take a more animalistic approach, and crawl along the floor while roaring.

Charlie-Chaplin-style fish-slapping punishments was their diaphragm rioter. Arron juggled then pirouetted and attempted to catch all the balls. He was rewarded with a Jelly Baby if he did so. When Sparks missed, his chops earned a brush with a cod.

The geeks’ show-stopper was like being stuck on the M25 during a bank holiday. Arron and Jon painfully eked out a ten-ring pass but with as many accidents as Kim Kardashian's stylist, only theirs were intensional.

Timing and skill were apparent during a five-minute set of Drop Suey. All the dorks race around the stage hurling boxes, balls and batons to garage-Asian-trash-style beats. Not dissimilar to Harvey Nic's mid-season handbag department sale.

The finale involved a large screen, more balls and more juggling. But after all that foreplay no doubt the crowd left with blue-balls.

Enjoyable, but much like Graham Norton's beard, the show could do with a little trim.
