Norwich Pride 2014

Saturday 26 July sees the city’s sixth annual Pride, a celebration from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans community for everyone.

Our key events are free, inclusive and family friendly, so we look forward to seeing thousands of you in the city, helping us to turn Norwich into a Rainbow.

We’ll have our annual parade through the city centre, picnic and entertainments at Chapelfield Gardens and stalls & talks at the Forum.

It’s up to you to make the day as fabulous as possible by painting your face, wearing a colourful outfit, flying the rainbow flag or simply sharing a picnic with friends and family. It’s a day when everyone can feel safe and proud to be themselves –enjoy!

What is Norwich Pride?

Norwich Pride is a celebration from the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) community for everyone. The 6th Norwich Pride will be on Saturday 26th July 2014. For details of events, please see the section about Norwich Pride 2014 on our website.

What are our aims?

Norwich Pride is a celebration from the LGBT community for everybody.
Our vision is to turn Norwich into a rainbow.
Our mission is to ensure that we live in a city where everyone can feel safe and proud to be themselves.
We work positively and creatively to overcome intolerance and prejudice of any kind.

Our Core Values

We base all our decisions on our Core Values. Everyone who joins the Norwich Pride Collective has to agree to uphold them.

What do we mean by LGBT community and who speaks for the LGBT community locally?

First things first; Norwich Pride does not claim to speak on behalf of all LGBT people in Norwich and Norfolk! However the Norwich Pride collective does speak to the press, tv and radio about events that we organise and we respond to any queries or reactions as an LGBT organised community group. Norfolk County Council’s diversity officers estimate that approximately 50,000 people in Norfolk may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered. However some people may not identify with these terms and may or may not wish to be identified with a wider community. Bearing all this in mind Norwich Pride aims to work with all individuals, groups and organisations to achieve a variety of different aims under our vision to make Norwich a city where everyone feels safe and proud to be themselves. To this end Norwich Pride tries to help ensure that LGBT individuals can come together in different ways to have fun, make friends and make a positive difference to local life.
