Jason P. Freeman assumes senior creative role as part of system-wide redesign

May 1, 2013 (Chicago, IL) – ChicagoPride.com, the leading provider of online news and entertainment for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities in the Midwest, today announces the return of a longstanding staff member to the network’s masthead.

After a year-long hiatus, Jason P. Freeman accepted an internal promotion to Senior Editor on May 1, 2013.

“Jason’s professional prowess, passions and commitment to craft has exponentially enhanced GoPride.com’s features portals for upwards of eight years,” said GoPride.com Executive Vice President and Content Chief, S. James Long, who spearheaded Freeman’s recruitment. “Jason will be a vital part in shaping the network’s growth and direction this summer.”

Of his new position, Freeman stated: “I am honored to be ranked among the network’s team of community-famed political leaders, historians and trend-setting cultural reporters. I’m looking forward to our collaborations and, what will undoubtedly be, our many future successes.”

Freeman’s experiential background credits him with 15 years of community service and leadership which include that of an award-winning, multi-media writer and alternative-press editor. From founding The University of Illinois’ annual “Coming Out in the Quad Rally,” circa 1999, to his recent tenure as the former editor in chief of PINK Magazine and PINKmag.com, Freeman has been/is professionally affiliated with over a dozen nonprofit organizations, including The National Gay and Lesbian Journalists’ Association. His tenure with GoPride.com first began in 2005 when ChicagoPride.com syndicated his then bi-monthly BOI Magazine community column, “Riding the Velvet Rope.” Later promoted to editor-at-large, Freeman would pen a boilerplate series of flagship features for the site, and the expanding GoPride Network, in the years that followed; the most notable of which include BedfellowsQ CapriccioB Scene and At Large.

As Senior Editor, Freeman will serve as both contributor and consultant, where he will institute a stronger, professional-grade foundation to the network’s LGBT arts, entertainment and lifestyle-press production.
