Not since 'Viva Forever's' closure last year, has the West End seen a downfall as big and as quick as the one that 'I Can't Sing, The Musical' faces.

by Newsdesk | 27th April 2014

This is what happens when you diss Geri Halliwell. The Simon Cowell approved and backed musical is closing down after just 2 months at The London Palladium.

The Harry Hill penned musical is set to close in two weeks and all ticket holders beyond the middle of May are being asked to make contact with their point of purchase for refunds.

Despite rave reviews from the press, the musical has failed to attract the attention of the theatre going audiences, much like the last season of X Factor with TV Audiences.

Last year despite massive publicity from the Spice Girls & Jennifer Saunders Viva Forever closed, however the show was beset with terrible reviews from the outset, unlike I Can't Sing, which received mostly favourable crits.

The last show of I Can't Sing, which stars Eastenders actor Nigel Harman, will take place on the 10th May.

Rebecca Quigley, CEO of Stage Entertainment UK, said: 'We are sad to be bringing I Can't Sing! to a close, but are immensely proud to have co-produced the show. The West End can be an unpredictable place as the closure of a number of high profile productions recently has shown.

'I Can't Sing! has had audiences on their feet night after night, four and five star reviews from the critics and an amazing company and creative team, but it seems that isn't always enough.

'To open any big musical, and particularly a brand new British musical comedy at the London Palladium, is no mean feat and hundreds of dedicated people have played a part in bringing this unique and wonderful show to the stage. I thank every one of those people and the audiences who have come to see the production.'
