Matthew Macfayden Wants To Keep His Clothes On

When the BBC decided to do a remake of ‘Poldark’ their hit TV series from the 1970s they made a few changes.

None that has caused quite so much controversy as seeing Irish actor Aidan Turner’s naked ripped torso in the middle of a field of corn.

It’s part of a new trend that is disturbing actor Matthew Macfayden who has told the RadioTimes that Hollywood Studios are forcing actors to get buff for period roles.

The actor revealed how his physique failed to impress Universal Studios when he was cast as Mr. Darcy in director Joe Wright’s 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice.

He was handed a diet and fitness regime in order to bulk up for the Jane Austen adaptation.

“You do the deal and then the personal trainer gets in touch,”

He added ‘the current obsession with pectoral prowess, as evidenced by the swooning response to Turner’s topless scything scene in Poldark, is wholly unrealistic’,

He’s probably right, but is having men now considered the sex objects in movies such a bad thing?
