Youth Residential Manager

Youth Residential ManagerDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Homeless Services Program Manager, the on-site Residential Manager will oversee the operations and supervision of the residential shelter and staff.

1) Develop, implement, and supervise Education, Career, and Youth Development programming for a 24-bed residential program for homeless young adults age 18-25 years old;
2) Evaluate program needs, program and training development, and hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff;
3) Develop and implement programs for LGBT homeless youth to address their psychoeducational needs;
4) Work a flexible schedule and be on call for crisis situations that may occur in the house;
5) Coordinate event and activity participation by residents;
6) Promote youth involvement by developing and implementing a youth development program;
7) Facilitate group meetings and conflict resolutions for residents and staff;
8) Collaborate with outside community based LGBT and youth service organizations and represent the program externally as needed;
9) Compile service related data and file monthly, quarterly and annual reports to federal and state funding sources and assist with grant writing; and
10) Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1) Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other Behavioral Science preferred and/or equivalent work experience;
2) Experience working with clients who suffer from mental health and substance abuse issues;
3) A minimum of four years of experience working with adolescent and youth populations, preferably in the homeless and at risk youth population;
4) Experience in developing and implementing career development programs for at risk or homeless youth;
5) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate meetings;
6) Ability to make oral presentations to groups about issues related to LGBT homeless youth;
7) Good computer skills and knowledge including word processing, excel database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems;
8) Leadership skills as evedent by ability to coordinate and/or oversee the successful completion of projects;
9) Sensitive to the needs of gay, lesbian, bi‑sexual, and transgendered youth from a wide range of backgrounds;
10) Valid California driver’s license and a clean DMV record (ability to obtain insurance) ;
11) Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish preffered);
12) Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with homeless, substance using, transgender, population (s) and with men and women of diverse backgrounds including age, gender, sexual orientation, education, language, and ethnicity.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, & LICENSURE:
1) Current CPR certificate.
