More than Visibility:

Last year we were graced with fabulous community leaders and speakers. Hundreds of people showed up for trans visibility, to welcome Janet Mock to San Francisco, and recognize living legend Miss Major. Already in 2015 we are reminded that more work and visibility is needed.

The International TDoV is an annual holiday celebrated around the world. The day is dedicated to celebrating transgender & gender non-conforming people while raising awareness of victories and work that is still needed to save trans lives. The holiday was founded in 2009 as a reaction to the lack of LGBT holidays celebrating transgender people, citing the only well-known transgender – centered holiday is the Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Global events surrounding the day include protests, actions, sit-ins, poetry events, social events and a variety of other activities that emphasize the importance of trans and GNC lives in our communities locally and abroad. TDoV exists to build community, celebrate what we have accomplished, and inspire future change.

We must continue to bring visibility, honor, and take action for community members who have been killed due to undiscernible violence. In addition TDoV is an opportunity to honor the living, celebrated our elders, and inspire new leaders in our communities. Learn how to get engaged below!
