Pathé today released the first photo of Meryl Streep in the movie she is currently filming in the UK with Hugh Grant.

She plays the title role on FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS,which is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great opera singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her “husband” and manager, St Clair Bayfield, an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, St Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge

The film is directed By Stephen Frears (‘The Queen) and also stars Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda and is scheduled to be in our cinemas later this year and could become the campest movie this Christmas

Ms. Streep proved she had a really good singing voice in the movie version of Mamma Mia, and then again last year playing the Witch in ‘into The Woods’ but this time she has to sing really badly. If you want to get an idea of how bad, then click on this link to a recording of the original Florence as she murders yet another song.
