LGBT Youth Victim Advocate Counselor Sexual Assault ProgramQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field required.* Master’s degree preferred. Certification/licensure as required
2. One year experience in crisis intervention, counseling and/or case work preferred.
3. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
4. Demonstrated ability to work with LGBT and at-risk populations
5. Bilingual preferred.
6. Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
7. Demonstrated ability to appropriately interact with and support people dealing with trauma.
8. Satisfactory response to criminal, child abuse, and neglect history background checks.
9. A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle expected.
10. CPR and First Aid certification required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide (onsite, at satellite locations, or in the community) LGBT client directed services including crisis intervention, counseling, case management, advocacy, referral, support groups and follow-up.
2. Inform program participants about choices and options regarding economic, legal, social, health and other basic needs.
3. Work collegially to assure that client needs are met, assisting other staff to provide services as needed.
4. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the job.
5. Maintain program participant records, collect statistics and submit reports as required.
6. As a member of the YWCA Sexual Assault Program team, assist in program/department development activities.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: YW-SAP

SUPERVISED BY: PAS-SAP

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
