Lambda Legal invites recent and prospective law graduates to request our sponsorship for mission-oriented fellowship proposals. For years, we have hosted fellows funded by foundations, nonprofits, law firms, and law schools to participate in litigation and advocacy on a wide range of issues.
We are interested in project proposals that seek to advance the rights of LGBT people and people living with HIV. We are particularly interested in projects addressing the rights of transgender and gender-nonconforming people; the rights of people living with HIV; the use of religious “exemptions” to discriminate against LGBT people; the rights of LGBT young people affected by the school-to-prison pipeline; the rights of low-income people, including in the workplace; the rights of people of color who are LGBT or living with HIV.
Legal Fellowship Lambda Legal
To apply for Lambda Legal to sponsor your fellowship project, email fellowships@lambdalegal.org , using the subject line “ fellowship inquiry .” Please include a cover letter, outline of your project proposal, information regarding the potential funder(s) (time span funded by the fellowship, application process, other requirements), resume, and writing sample. Please specify which of our offices you would consider.

Founded in 1973, Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV; through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
As a nonprofit organization, we do not charge our clients for legal representation or advocacy, and we receive no government funding. We depend on contributions from supporters around the country.
What We Do
We select cases that will have the greatest impact in protecting and advancing the rights of LGBT people and those with HIV.
We lead high-impact public education campaigns to help people exercise the rights they have and to build public support for equality.
Public Policy
We advocate for public policy at the local, state and federal levels to improve the lives of LGBT people, people affected by HIV, and their families and allies.
