The L.​A.​ Gay and Lesbian Center is the nation’s largest organization serving gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.​ It operates with an annual budget of $50 million, a staff exceeding 400 and more than 3,000 volunteers.​ Founded in 1971, the Gay and Lesbian Center provides the widest array of social services available anywhere in the LGBT community.​ Some of our programs include : HIV/​AIDS treatment and prevention with a full service clinic and pharmacy, Youth Services including a transitional living facility, Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services, Legal Services, Anti-Violence programs, Family Services, programs for the Senior LGBT community, HIV & STD testing and prevention, a Cyber Center and Cultural Arts programming including live theater.​

PROFESSIONAL SECURITY MANAGER wanted for prominent, non-profit, social services organization with in-house Union Security Guard staff, that currently includes 1 Supervisor, 40 Guards, 3 locations, 24/​7 operations.​ Great positive environment, and benefits.​
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, and as part of the Facilities Management Team, the Security Manager is responsible for;

The Management of all Security staff and 24 hour Security operations, at all agency locations, while maintaining a positive and flexible work environment.​ The Security Manager will;

  1. Prioritize, respond to, and coordinate all staff, departmental and agency Security needs
  2. Monitor daily Security operations for large (40 and growing) non-armed, in-house, unionized Security Guard staff at 3 locations;
  3. Ensure recruitment, and proper hiring methods for all Security staff per HR policies;
  4. Interview, hire, train and supervise non-union Security Supervisor(s) in all aspects of Security Operations, Staff Management, Policies & Procedures, Law Enforcement Relations & Union Relations
  5. Ensure job performance of all Security personnel using the following:
  6. Agency and department orientations & trainings; work schedules & job assignments; monitoring of attendance; completion of probationary and yearly evaluations; and compliance to all policies & procedures;
  7. Maintain, for all Security staff, accurate personnel records, documenting all disciplinary actions per Center, HR & Union guidelines, and maintain the day to day union relations in a positive and productive manner;
  8. Maintain accurate Security Department recordkeeping, using all Security systems reporting & documentation resources, and develop Security policies, procedures, and forms as necessary;
  9. Develop a positive, productive relationships with the local LAPD Station House, and  Local BID Security Agencies;
  10. Monitor and procure any necessary security equipment and supplies;
  11. Coordinate and monitor vendor/​contractor site access; maintain compliance with all Building &Safety regulations;            Manage, as required, the reporting, investigation and follow up of all Accidents and Incidents for OSHA, Workers Compensation, and Center Security Reporting systems;
  12. Participate in staff meetings, planning and other types of meetings and events as required and/​or needed;
  13. Be available 24/​7 for scheduled and emergency situations;
  14. Support agency goals and initiatives as required;
  15. Perform other duties as assigned;

Required Experience:

  1. 8 years of Security Management experience.​
  2. 4 years of experience in direct supervision of security guards/​and 4 years of managing in a union environment:
  3. Knowledge of IBM compatible computers, and programs, and the ability to learn new internal systems quickly and pass that knowledge on to Security Supervisor(s) and staff;

Qualifications must include:

  1. Strong organizational skills, including superior written and verbal communication skills;
  2. Ability to work at a managerial level, cooperatively with many departments, clients and other agency staff members;
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with men and women of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural, social services environment;
  4. Bilingual a plus (English/​Spanish preferred)
  5. Direct experience in the social services, health care, shelter housing, and /​or not for profit fields and LGBT communities a plus;
  6. Valid CA.​ Guard Card, Valid CA.​ driver’s license and vehicle w/​ proof of insurance, DMV printout.​
