In Conversation With Julie Walters

On May 26th gay icon and actress Julie Walters will be on stage at BFI Southbank ‘In Conversation’ with actor turned filmmaker Richard E Grant who has recently cast her in his directorial debut feature Wah-Wa.

One of Britain’s favorite actresses who despite getting an Oscar Nomination for her very first film in 1983, Educating Rita, chose not to accept all the lucrative offers to decamp to Hollywood and remained here to star in some of the best of British cinema. Her films include Billy Elliot (for which she received her second Oscar Nomination) the Harry Potter series, Calendar Girls and, most recently, Paddington. She became a CBE in 2009 and was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship in 2014. Ms. Walters recently lent her voice to the a 90 minute documentary for the BBC, Remembering Victory, which you can catch up on the BBC’s iPlayer.

The live Event, which will be filmed by the BBC, will be followed by a Screening of Educating Rita.
