Every year since 2008, Google has celebrated gay pride month with an understated surprise. When you search for gay-related topics during the month of June, the search bar gets pretty colorful.
This year, you just type in ‘gay,’ or anything gay-ish, and it comes back with a 3D rainbow search bar:
This has become an annual tradition for Google. However, the decision to add the support only within gay-related searches has in previous years prompted some to say that Google remains in the closet. Apparently, Google keeps it hidden to avoid criticism from anti-gay groups.
The first year, Google put up a rainbow bar on the right side of the page.
In 2009, when you searched for words like “gay,” the results showed a rainbow up by the search bar:

According to OnTopMag.com, Google-owned YouTube is planning a gay pride event that will be the “largest campaign in 8-year history.” June 28, YouTube will exclusively feature LGBT content on its spotlight channel. It’ll also feature a 90-second pride video, made up of some of YouTube’s LGBT content.
