Help raise $25,000 this summer for LGBTQI youth!
This summer, our goal is to raise $25,000 to support Sylvia’s Place, a program of MCCNY Charities, Inc. Each night Sylvia’s Place is a safe space for 14 LGBTQI runaway and homeless youth. Here they receive counseling, food, clothing, showers, referrals to medical care, and other essential services. Last year, over 300 youth came through our doors and were fed, clothed, and housed.
With your help, our youth won’t have to make the decision to trade sex for food or shelter. A donation of only $45 will provide a safe place and meal for a youth tonight. Click here to donate now!

The work of MCCNY Charities, Inc. is inspired by the life and advocacy of Sylvia Rae Rivera: founder of Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), Stonewall veteran, and fierce defender of the rights of transgender and marginalized people. Sylvia served as the food pantry director in the 1990s and called for the opening of Sylvia’s Place upon her death in 2002. MCCNY Charities, Inc. works with community members and organizations to spread Sylvia’s vision of radical inclusion to anyone in need.
MCCNY Charities, Inc. encompasses the social service ministries of Metropolitan Community Church of New York(MCCNY). Through providing social services for the homeless and the hungry, including people living with HIV/AIDS, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) youth, and building a sense of community, MCCNY Charities, Inc. furthers the broader mission of MCCNY in bringing the world to just and right relationship.
Staff, volunteers and community members have worked towards this vision since the opening of the food pantry in 1985. In 2011, MCCNY Charities, Inc. became an independent 501(c)(3) organization committed to continuing our partnership with MCCNY while expanding our ability to provide support to those in need.
