LGBT Lead AdvocateLGBT Lead Advocate

Job Summary:
The LGBT Lead Advocate will be the first point of contact for all IOOV clients. The Advocate will conduct all organizational intakes and will determine client eligibility for IOOV Programs and Services.

Qualifications:

Degree in, Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, LMSW preferred LCSW, Paid Case Management experience Paid experience working on issues of domestic violence, sexual assault or related concerns preferred. Commitment to lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual people of color community issues and interests. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills Experience in the social services and courts system field required Ability to think creatively and strategically about fulfilling program objectives Excellent time management skills

Areas of Responsibility:
The LGBT Lead Advocate will also work to further implement the organization’s anti-violence programs. Specifically, the person chosen will:

Provide advocacy and support to LGBT individuals by providing emergency assistance, information & referrals; in person/telephone counseling; accompaniment to legal/health and human service appointments, criminal justice support, assistance with completing crime victims compensation claim applications, follow up and other case management related tasks.; Provide support and consultation to community-based advocates; Case conferencing for specific clients; and other duties as assigned

Who We Seek:
The person in this role will work with other staff as we strive to build both a healthier LGBT POC community and stronger relationships among LGBT POC and non-LGBT people of color. Skills at community organizing and the ability to speak Spanish would be considered strong positives. Candidates also should possess strong organizational, written and oral skills.

Qualified candidates must submit a cover letter outlining their experience as it relates to their HIV field, outreach experience and/or experience with the target population and two writing samples . Must have Car. Submit all requirements to:
