Global Kiss-In “To Russia With Love” – 54 Cities, September 8th at 3pm local time

Watch out Mr.Putin, 54 cities all over the world are getting ready for the biggest gay Kiss-In flashmob ever!!

We had a chance to chat with event co-creator Norbert Greuter and learn more about this upcoming event.

How did the kiss in get started?

I had the idea after my 40.birthday only for Berlin (about a year ago),so I created a page here on Facebook, because I could not tolerate anymore the things happening in Russia. And two days later, a friend of mine told me about another friend which my now work partner Florian, that he has the same idea, and so we got connected and really started it big.

So, this was before all the media attention over propaganda laws?

Those laws had been in the works for quite some time.  I had heard about it because I have a lot of friends in Russia. The sad thing is that I like Russia very much.

What do you hope to accomplish?

Well, I know that this will not change Putin or the current ideology.  I am not only doing it to say “Fuck You Putin”, but we are also doing it to show the Russian gays and lesbians that the world is feeling with them and we are not forgetting them. We want to show respect and give them power to survive in their daily life. Life in Russia is a very hard.  Average Russians do not have the economic opportunities that we have here in Europe.

What do you think of the Stoli boycotts?

Nothing! Because that makes things even worse for the gay community, because the stupid hetero fucked up people are even blaming the gays.  It is the gays fault is now to sell less vodka or the gays fault is now that the heteros may lose the Olympics.

Will there be change in Russia?

This will take many, many years. It is a tough country, and everyone is playing the game to hopefully be also on day in the line for the money pot.

What happens after the event?

Well there are a lot of new themes, there are 90 countries in this world not excepting gay life. It´s a lot to do, and my companions and I will!!!
