Music Video: I.K.P. “Let It B. Known”

(GayWebSource.com) – My first music video for the single “Let It B. Known” was all about the importance of uniting people together, which I aimed to demonstrate by having people of different backgrounds in the video. Since I’m rapping in the song as an openly gay male who speaks out against the inequalities, double standards and stigmas faced by our community, in the video I wanted to portray myself as running for President and having the support of the people because of my acceptance of all lifestyles, especially, the LGBT community.

After forever and a day trying to find the right people who would fully support the message, I linked with a budding production company in Orlando, FL called The Spot Studio to help me put this visual together. Although the director, Vladimir Colón, fully embraced me and my story and the cause I aspired to take on, he was reluctant to do the video because he thought the music was too dark for the image I wanted to portray. After some convincing (*wink*) we shot the clip in the first weekend in March, the week before I had to report for an internship in that ultimately moved me to New York.

It was a beautiful weekend, the weather was perfect for late winter in Florida, (which by then, usually means ANY cold weather was all but done) sunny and without a cloud in the sky. We used two parks, one for the podium scene and the crowd scenes, and one for my solo performances. Everyone had fun and the people that sang the hook in the video were students from Full Sail University that I met via Facebook. They were ecstatic about the opportunity and loved the song.

I was endorsed by Marriageissogay.com, and they provided the attire for most of the people on set, the shirts labeled “Marriage Is So Gay”. I felt honored that they hooked us up in exchange for a little promotion.
